Poll should have segrated loose coal prices from bag coal prices.

Agel Coal in Scranton, PA $4.75/50lb bag ($190.00/ton). Agel is much less for loose coal (~$130.00/ton)

After waiting 5 weeks for a delivery I finally gave up yesterday and went and picked up my first ton myself.
$125/ton for any size at DiRenzo in Pottsville, PA.

That's my idea, JC. I'm in this for the long run!
I'll get there, just takes a little time!
Thanks for posting the links to the reports re: strip vs. deep mined coal!

Price of coal

PostBy: boilermaker On: Sat Nov 03, 2007 6:55 pm

Hi all.
Up here in Malone NY I paid $270/ton for nut. The local guy didn't raise if from last year. It's a bit more up here since I'm so close to Quebec that I can hear the cows mooing in french.
The coal is top quality with much less ash than I'm used to, more cleaner burning with NO smell at all, and long lasting per charge. I'm willing to pay a few dollars extra for the better quality fuel if it give better quality results.
You can see him putting down the chute at my house in another post I have on this forum. Not sure but I think it's where all the pictures are posted of everyone's heating units.
Oh, and by the way, the BTU content of this coal tested to a little over 13000/lb. Pretty good I thought since anthracite usually runs around 12500 or so.

Smitty, It's $250 a ton for bagged rice in Munson, not sure how far away that is from you though.

Has anybody heard of a 4.5% tax/surcharge?
When I was asking about pricing with my dealer he mentioned this. I thought he said it was a new tax?
I didn't like it, but didn't question it.
I didn't have to buy coal last year but I've never had to pay this before. :gee:
