Ever look into getting your LTC?

I had the range master down at Great Swamp tell me it wasn't that hard to get so I gave him my number and told him to call me to set up a time for me to qualify but haven't heard from him.

I thought you lived in MA, JPete?

In MA you have to take the pistol course, then bring your certificate down to the Police Department & make an appointment with either the Chief or whoever he delegates that responsibility to for the application process. How difficult this is depends on how liberal your city/town is. If left up to the state, they'd probably question everyone & issue no permits ...

Nope. RI born and bred.

I don't really want a LTC, I just want to see if I can get one. :)

I had to get my "Blue Card"(permit to buy a handgun) to get a license to shoot trap down the the Greast Swamp range.

Once I got that, the range master offered to qualify me for the LTC. But the season was winding down and he was up in the air on if he was going to have a place to shoot. I suppose I should have gotten his number too. Oh well, there's always next year....maybe ;)

I have my LTC and my police chief will not sign the papers he is required by law to sign. I went to town hall and they did it. The actual rocess only took a few weeks. It turned out to be much easier than I had been told. My wife wants to take the course and get hers now.

What town are you in? I'm in Warwick and have no idea how the police chief would act on LTC's.

The entire process for me took over 3 months -- from the time I went to the police department, until I had permit in hand. That's this state though - had nothing to do with the police.

I hear RI is not very gun friendly either ....

It may be hard to believe, but it might be less friendly. It's wired because we have a nice state provided rage, but as far as a LTC goes, it's nearly impossible to get.
