Be Aware of Spammers/Scammers Using PM System

PostBy: Richard S. On: Fri Oct 15, 2010 8:33 pm

I'm making the members aware of this as we have at least one instance of someone using the PM system to sell coal and by all accounts it appears to be a scam. Do not give your information to anyone here unless you are absolutely certain they are who they say they are. With the exception of some State moderators any member that has been confirmed by me will be in a different color and have a specific title under their name, all others could be anyone.

If you are selling something under no circumstances is the PM system to be used to send unsolicited emails to the members here whether you are legitimate or not. You're account will be immediately banned.

If you receive any offers please forward them to me or another moderator so we can look into it and take the appropriate action.

I have had a PM from someone trying to sell me coal. Must have been 6 months ago.
I ignored it.

You can forward this to me if you want.

  • Find the message in your Inbox and open it.
  • Click the forward button next to the reply button.
  • Add "Richard S." without the quotes into the text box.
  • Click the "Add" button to the right.
  • Hit submit

Just to clarify I'm not concerned about people using the PM system if for example a member sent someone a PM however I'm not going to tolerate any comapny using it to spam members sending them unsolicited offers trying to sell them a product.
