Superior coal ash content is 12 to 14% BTU's are down do to only very small amount of Underground deep mine coal going there 95% of the coal is Surface mined so BTU's changed not the same veins of coal that use to go there the 2 other Underground mines that use to go there are closed down The BTU's used to be 13.800 to 14.000 per lb. 160 a ton

UAE Harmony mine is in only one vein of coal Lykens #2 Ash content runs 6.5 to 7% BTU's 13.500 to 13.700 per lb. so being it has half the ash content you will definitely see it in the ash tub. 150 a ton

Hi Guys,

I hope everyone had a good weekend. This was our families fall weekend to Virginia's Tidewater area. That's the Newport News, Williamsburg, Yorktown area. They are a couple of weeks behind us getting to the fall but you could feel it in the air. We spent yesterday at Busch Gardens and had a great time. The kids go for the roller coasters but I go for the atmosphere. The gardens are always so pretty and the entire place is so family friendly it's a joy to spend the day.

I've run into an interesting situation in my drywall repair project. it seems that since the house was built the dimensions of a 2x2 are no longer 2x2 but rather are just a tad smaller. Not a good thing when trying to match existing studs and attach drywall. What a pain! I have to get some wood scraps and "build" the new stud out and attach the drywall. Then I'll be able to get some mud up. It's turned out to be one of those simple day jobs that is taking a whole lot longer then expected. It's always something.

Have a great week! Lisa

I was just outside with the dog, someone around here has a stinky wood fire burning, and it's not me, the Fisher is cold and the Harman is burning. :D

I will be logging out to go fire the Harman up as well. I've had enough of this 57° house crap!

Put it all back together last night, but had another leak at my super-tight 90° connector I built. Must've broken the solder when I tightened it up. I slapped some 1194 on it ... we'll see if that holds.

I'm burnin!! Had to resolder my 90° piece, but all is well now - no leaks.

Draft was about .03, so it took about a solid hour from the strike of the match, to getting enough of the 80lbs of coal to burn upon closing the ash door - which was about 3pm. Had windows open for 3 hours to let the smoke out (LPS-3 burnin' off), which brought the house down to 58°. It's now 65° in here & getting warmer by the hour.

1 match. 1 fire. :verycool:
