Who's Got the Best Coal This Year?
Superior coal I got last year wasn't that good compared to the year before.
So I got Harmony coal last Jan. and liked it.Less ash than Superior and ALMOST as much heat.
I have 2 ton of UAE left but my coal guy is gunna make a run for me soon.
WHAT'S THE COAL TO GET THIS YEAR
Cold in upstate NY

I'm not sure about any of those, I'll have to ask JC. I've bought from Lenig's in the past and it was very good. I'm just stuck on Harmony right now.

still looking for some place kind of close to me with good bit. .
I was thinking about trying some bit coal sometime but the transportation cost from KY may be more than I'm used to .Berlin wrote:How 'bout some nice Eastern Kentucky Bituminous Lump or Stoker coal @ 14,000+btu/lb and less than 5% ash I'll be burning a couple tons of each this winter.

I was also thinking about stove size coal. That's what my furnace is supposed to burn.

I'm limited to only a few types of coal I can try because I am in Connecticut, but this year the Blaschak rice appears to be better than the last 2 years. I have had good luck in the past with it but had a lot of ash last year. Also, last year it seemed to be larger than what I thought rice should be. This year I'm barely getting a half ash pan full a day and last year I was near a full ash pan a day on a LL hearth. I would love to try UAE Harmony. Do they bag? I just found a source for Jeddo in CT I may try some this year. Anyone out there in CT looking to split a load directly from the mine?

I ordered 4 ton of Blaschak rice this Oct. it burns great no problems also very clean with little amount of fines. The ash is white in color and it burns up leaving no unburnt coal.
I have been burning blaschak for 10 years and this seems to be the best.

The 4 tons of lenig's I picked up last may seem to burning as good or better than Harmony and much less in the way of fines. It is really hard stuff nice and shiny.

I have been buying Superior 4 years straight. A little bit ashy but consistently hot. Seems to be good quality.
