How to edit old post

PostBy: rockwood On: Thu Oct 21, 2010 10:30 pm

There's an old post of mine that has a link in it that's no longer good. This post is about a year old and no longer has an "edit" button in it.
Is there a time limit for editing my older posts?

The edit button goes away after 24 hours, I believe. It could be longer -- I can't remember, but it's no more than a few days.

The time limit to edit is little over 24 hours. It's in place for a variety of reasons but the biggest two are
  1. Spammers will plant posts so they go under the radar and edit links in later.
  2. It's rare but people have removed their origianl post, it destroys the thread and the contributions of others members.

Generally we don't take requests for edits after the time has expired but will make exceptions such as if you have accidentally disclosed something you shouldn't have.

I will remove dead links too, send me a PM.
