cool, thanks for the link. I never considered the A/A because of the cost but this might work, we'll see what happens. How many BTU's is this thing?

I'm bidding on it, I have the 'removal crew' all set up. [they volunteered] Thanks Guys!!

I need to try one of these AA boilers to see if I can cut my coal use some, I burn about 3.5 tons per month with my current boiler, I'd like to cut that back by 30-40%

Greg, is that 'little' boiler going to be enough to heat your house and garage?

I can only imagine though that it will be rather more efficient than running your current stoker setup inside that enormous boiler you have. That firepot looks totally lost in there!

What I'll do is to run the AA as the primary heat source, and keep the big monster boiler idling during cold weather so that if the AA can't keep up the Big Boiler can stoke-up and make up the BTU shortfall.

All I have to do is set up the AA in the shop, use the exsisting underground piping, and I can set up a HUGE coal bin so the AA can have a month's worth of coal or more in the bin. I have some 6" bean auger for an ash removal system, if I find time I'll make a 'once-a-week' boiler operation.

Greg L

Now all I have to do is be the successful bidder.....

With your high ceiling in your shop, I'd not use the coal feed auger on the A-A and make a huge gravity feed funnel on top on the boiler. You can fill it with your front end loader. I'd put the boiler on a base high enough to park the loader bucket under it. Just another way to get to the illusive goal, reliable unattended operation. Good luck on the bidding. I'm looking forward to making a trip to Carlisle. :-)

Hey guys, I can’t promise but when you all have a day let me know and I can help if possible. I’m about 60 miles from Carlisle. If it works out on a day I can help I could also help out with some tools, planks, pipes etc. Keep me posted.

I have a stoker so that makes me a “girlie man” so I can’t contribute any brute force but I do have a white hard hat and can supervise all of you “real men”

I think Greg needs a load of pea coal now. If you want maybe we could find a garage or shop with a block and tackle and set your new toy in the bed of the truck and you can haul a load of pea in the trailer. Another long drive back!
