Ideally, you would dry lay up some 8" block. @ 1.50 each they are a nice, cheap and most importantly easily movable coal bin.

I'm buying 6 barrels, which should be more than enough. I brought some bagged coal to start out but with temps being near 60, I haven't turned my stove on yet because it will get the house too hot. I have a heavy duty hand truck and some straps and I shouldn't have any problems moving each barrel 10 ft to where I will be storing them.
I hope the barrells have locking band tops. Otherwise you can only fill them 2/3 full or you will spill the coal when you move them.

In the Scranton area, you can get used barrels of all sorts from Scranton Cooperage in Jessup. http://www.scrantoncooperage.com
