Still too warm to fire up in KY, highs in the 60's today, it will be the first year I have not had to fire up in late October.
We had a pretty bad fire locally yesterday, lost a nice mansion on a local horse farm built in the 1870"s, check out the guy in the white helmet, he looks like a coal burner to me, sounds like a Ky redneck.

All kinds of gunfire from the neighboring land, lots of hunters out this morning.. it was around 35*. tonight way below freezing.. I need to check the propane tank.. I'llprobably fire up the AA week after next.. I think I've reached the point where there is enough consistant cold weather to justify the AA burning coal.
The barn cats inhaled their food this morning,, they must need the calories. I may make a winter house for them this year..Last year I insulated a few cardboard boxes, and they loved them..
I need a month off work to get the house ready for Christmas. I'll just have to do what I can.
Time to get something done.

You just sound like you are from the south, instead of a NY news anchorman.. I flew last week with a guy from South Carolina, man, what an accent !
Shame that that place burnt up so bad.. Glad all the firefighters are ok.. Dangerous job you have there..
It hasn't reached 45* yet.. windy and chilly..BRRR.

I am checking in a little late this weekend. Yesterday I did a lot of insulating and caulking, and had to go to a wedding in the afternoon. The reception was a blast, I even bumped into an old friend from high school. We got chatting about this and that, and he mentioned that he had just bought a coal boiler . An S130 coal gun, and he can't wait to get it installed. After 4 winters with an outside wood boiler, his back needs a break. The pex tubing and outside shed is already there, so it should be an easy install. Today I finished insulating the sill in the the basement and replaced the drop ceiling, looks very "official" now. Once I get things cleaned up I will post a picture of the bar.

Waaaaay before my time, but just confirms that I missed out on some of the best decades in American history.
Love the in depth flying info Greg. I definitely made some poor choices in my life. Sounds like I job I might've done - and actually enjoyed - had I got started much younger. You should be getting paid $14 million a year - not some football star. But such are the monetary priorities of modern life. A cop makes $50K if he's lucky, but musicians & sports stars make millions. Go figure. BK TOO!! I couldn't run into a burning building without dying of an asthma attack, & most people wouldn't anyway. Both you guys have tons of my respect!
Yeah, the kitty is costing me big, but I love the little guy. I've become such a softie with these kitties! I figure the vet just has to charge us what they are forced to pay out to the state -- that's the trickle down effect ..... democrat style .
Took a spin down to Mohegan Sun last night with the wifey & my brother. Saw these fellas. Some of you might recognize them:

We hit a low of 28.5° last night. And my house that usually drops into the upper 50's with just a 15° temp differential to the outside, was a balmy 70° ... and no oil boiler run time.
