Convection fan running up and down

Convection fan running up and down

PostBy: av8r On: Thu Nov 04, 2010 7:27 am

I've asked about this before, but thought I'd try again.

This morning my convection fan ran up to 100% and back down 14 times in less than a minute. It's like someone is flipping the switch for full fan on and off. Some times it runs up to full speed while other times it only has enough time to run up for a split second. The stove is near idle, I'm not calling for heat. Any ideas? I have the V3 firmware.

The reason for this was discovered and we do offer a firmware upgrade to solve it. Please contact the shop (315-299-3589) to arrange for this, make sure to let them know it is to fix this issue. It is hard to avoid this time of year due to the stove running at idle a lot. In the winter it can be avoided by setting your CFT setting to something below your normal FR, which will leave the fan running at minimum most of the time and avoid the restarting issue. Happily, this issue does not cause any damage of the motor or anything, it is just annoying to some. :)

Thermostats with V3 002 through V3 074 version firmware are susceptible to this. This was fixed in V3 075 (V3 078 is the shipping code and what will be installed for the fix).

Yup, that is normal when the FR gets down towards the CFT setting. This has been a know issue for a while.

Convection Fan Start/Stop Cycling

CFT-acting alittle funny!

I lowered my CFT down to like 4 or 6, my feed rate is not normally there, but when it's warm out, it will hit it sometimes and cycle for a few minutes, just bump the thermostat up a couple degrees to get the feed rate up a bit.. then it's back to normal.

Thanks guys.

I read the links shortly after I posted this, but left it up to see if there had been any changes. As I can't really send my stat in at this point to be flashed do you offer a cross ship option where you send me a stat and I return mine once I receive the new (updated) one?

thanks again

Call the shop (315-299-3589) to see what they can do. I'm not sure if we have any T-stats available at the moment for a cross-ship option.
