vermont castings Resolute: burning with doors open

I have a vermont castings Resolute stove. I like to burn wood with the doors open so I can look at the fire.
When I open the doors, the air flow is not very good and the fire does not burn well,
as soon as I shut the doors the fire goes crazy. What kind of adjustments should I make on air intake if I want the doors open?

Are you burning the stove with the coal inserts installed, or with out as just a wood burner??

Once the chimney gets heated up some you should have enough draft to run a wood fire with doors open, and the damper in the open (straight out) position, with no smoking and keeping the wood fire burning lively enough.

Once the doors are open there is no air intake adjustment , just like an open fire place
