Mass Meet and Greet? 11/27/2010

Yeah, always happens like that - - I always seem to miss a good time.

I'm sure we'll all get to meet up one of these days.

This is not just a Ma event. Anyone is welcome.
We will be meeting at or before noon.
Maybe after we can go to the pub for lunch and a beer.

We a great day for a greet and MEAT. Lol! While we had lunch and beers at the local pub, Jim D, his grandson and son in-law won some meat at the from the lions club raffle there!
But that wasn't the best part of the day. Jim D trailered up the new coal boiler that he built to show off. I have to confess, I didnt really know what to expect. Boy was I pleasantly suprised when he fired it up right inside the trailer. It turned out to be a neat, well made system and very compact too. If I didnt already have one I would be buying one for sure.
Some of the things that impressed me about his boiler was the co2 detector auto shut down, the built in manometer, small foot print and it's simple design.
Here are some pics.

Dual Alaska Stokers? Keystoker stokers? Leisure line stokers? Can you fire only one stoker at a time, for seasonal control of output? Vertical tube boiler...I hope this will be a Meet and Greet topic again. I will have Smutty Nose Micro Brewery make a donation.....if anyone likes adult beverages......

dual tri burners @ 85,000 22 21/2'' fire tubes w/ baffels =261/2 sq feet of heating surface with an asme stamped heat exchanger the unit is also ul approved you can fire one burner in spring and fall and both when winter really howls

Hey Whistlenut, we waited for you as long as we could but the lure of the pub down the street was too great and had to leave without you.

I was very impressed with the design of Jim's new stoker boiler, It was cleverly mounted in thier trailor and had it cranking out the heat in short order.

It was nice to meet Jim, his son-in-law, and grandson, made for a very nice Saturday afternoon, they did a good job showing off the boiler and how it worked.

Looking forward to the next meet and greet, hopefully to show this unit to more folks. If I understood correctly Mr.1 will be getting a consensus for the best time for another meet and greet to show off this boiler again.

I called the Machine Shop about 10 AM to see if anyone knew how long you brawnee dudes would be there, and knowing I wouldn't be able to get there by 12 noon. In any event, I hope to join the next M & G, and thanks for the invite, along with the photo's posted. This unit is going down the road we all want: dual burners so that seasonal warmth is not an issue. Fire one not both, until you need both. Electronic controls, AND still be bullet proof. "Change occurs when someone see the next step." That lucky son and grandson better pay close attention, there is a very bright dad and grampa right there. If it works out, I may be able to visit them in the near future.

Hmmm, you must have been there, how else would know what I looked like.

Thanksgiving weekend was mentioned as a possible time for another M&G.

Anybody else out there that would like to see this new boiler up close. Pick a date and lets see if we can get together.

Hey fellow forum members: DON'T forget that this Saturday AM (around 11:30 ish), we are getting together together in Boylston, MA at Mr Precision's Machine Shop for another informal 'Meet and Greet'. Even close New England Members from all NE States are invited. Heck, all interested parties and fellow forum members can stop by.

I heard Smitty would be on his way home from 'Breakfast with Barney', so he will perhaps grace us with his presence.
This is an informal meeting, so relax and enjoy some fellowship. Hopefully you completed most of the 'Honey-Do' list, so wives will loosen the collar for a few hours away from home. Smitty says he has some 'canceling software' for electronic monitoring devices, if your 'significant other' has fitted you with one of those.

18 degrees here right now, and the wind has stopped....kind of an anthracite morning for all those who are equipped.

The turkey is in the oven.... pies are prepared....only a few hours to the feast.....

A great time to reflect upon the men and women who are away from home keeping us free....and away from their loved ones. Thanks to each and every one of them. You are on our minds, too!

Enjoy a wonderful day with friends and family. Check in on a neighbor who may not be able to get out.....

I succeeded in annoying the wife enough to get me kicked out of the kitchen. Just hit every button on the blender like it's a piano -- Works every time!

I remember an IMUS segment about Wilfred Brimley 'stuffing the Turkey', and it was so funny I still hurt from laughter.
I'll bet smitty should not have been in the kitchen alone with Mr. Turkey either............

Everyone off the couch now? Smitty passed out early I heard...oh well, he should be in great shape by tomorrow to show his smiling face. It's a tough time of the year for 'extra time' but this could be a great chance to network about issues dear to fellow coal burners. 1/4" of ice here still at 10:40 AM, main roads are salted, but dirt roads are treacherous.

I-89 had a 6 vehicle mess at 02:30 today, and who would think there would be 6 vehicles out there at that time anyway........no one hurt.

Hello everybody sorry I missed this last year mabey I can make the next one. I'd love to meet all you old goats lol anyways let me know if you are planning something. Hope everybody is getting ready to fire up I'm working on some finishing touches although I may not have to fire up just yet. It is 79 degrees in my house currently with the Windows open. Soon enough. Hope everyone is well
