Call me crazy, but I love the winter!! I love all the seasons. Just as I start getting tired of 1 season, things start to change :)

I will make the offer, to anyone who misses the snow, bring a dump truck and a shovel and you can have all of my snow, AND AT NO CHARGE !!! You CAN NOT return any snow once you have received it.

I know one thing ... if I ever get the hell out of this place, I will certainly remember the negatives!

My parents are thinking about heading that way soon. My father has been wanting to get the hell out of here longer than I've been alive.

I'm so happy! That will be my "foot in the door", so to speak. :dancing:

I don't like the cold weather. If it weren't for family, I think I would like to live in Tennessee year-round.
I don't mind cool weather, and I love heat. When I visited Tenn. years ago it seemed like the people were generally very friendly. in some ways it was like turning the clock back 30 years. The women acted like ladies and frequently were seen in dresses. It also seemed that people were more polite.

Having two homes does not fit my budget or interest.

Most of my family lives here in the north country. I can't imagine seeing my grandson and daughter maybe once or twice a year. So, I stay north and burn coal. It seems to be the right descission for me.

Seems to me the grass might be greener in SC than in MA. BWDIK, I haven't seen any since around New Year's Day.

In my younger days while working in corporate America I lived between my two homes, one here in upstate NY and one in Irvine CA. I did like the warm heat of CA and the beaches where the girls were always fine, however, I missed the distinct seasons we get here in the northeast. So, I left the corporate world, sold my home in CA and have remained in the heart of the snow belt. I admit I love snow, the deeper the better. I like when it comes down in several inches per hour and storms for days. I like getting snow early and having it last well into spring. The colder the temp the better I like it. It means the snow is not going to melt any time soon. It also makes one appreciate the warmth of the coal heated house. I like to see the temp drop below zero. I like to see how low the temps can go and my two stoves keep up with the heat demand. I like plowing, blowing and shoveling snow. I have no plans to move to a warmer climate. If anything I would move farther north where the winter season starts earlier and lasts longer. The wife and I almost moved to Alaska five years ago. Where we were going to move, snowmobile was the only mode of transportation during the winter months. I'm alright with that. It does make one thing a little difficult, running and racing in running events. My wife and I still train no matter what the temp and how much snow is falling per hour. Went back to CA eight years ago for a visit. I don't miss the freeway driving, all the people, and earthquakes. The girls on the beaches are still fine.

But ... do you know what it's like to be truly FREE? If you've only lived in CA & NY, you do not, I hate to say. I spent some time in CA. Was great -- I agree with all that you said .... but the state government borders on communism .... sort of like MA on steroids. I am forbidden from owning a 2-stroke lawn mower there. Certain engines cannot be shipped there. Forget about having chemicals shipped to you that you need to repair small engines. Illegal immigrants have nearly overrun every major city, but the state just keeps feeding them at our expense. And now, all motorcycles will be required to have this stupid green sticker on their exhaust systems ( and this will do nothing to curb excessive sound .....). But, I will give them kudos for actually providing places to ride off-road, albeit heavily regulated places ... guess that's better than nothing. Sorry - just venting a little ....

And for MA .... I always knew MA sucked ... but then I lived in AZ for 2 years. I was a bat-across-the-face wake-up call to me! I never realized how truly bad the MA state government was. I was amazed at what I was free to do there in AZ, how quickly & efficiently road projects were completed, & how much CHEAPER it was to live life. Friends & family brought me back to this cesspool. It's the only reason I live here.

Now that the roads have narrowed by 10 feet due to all the snow, the true MA attitudes are coming out everywhere.

But there is hope for me -- I just received word recently that my parents will be moving south to either NC or SC. Looks like I have a new vacation, hunting, shooting, fishing, off-roading, & motorcycling .... and WINTER destination!!Thank God!!

Thats what Windowstats were invented for :dancing:
We are moving to Louisburg NC. Its a little cooler than Charlston.

Hey Smitty, sounds like New Jersey. They're bankrupting hospitals here too. At least you still have some fight in you! Some hope. My buddy is moving to Maine, his brother went to New Hampshire, friends from NJ sold their farm in New York State and just bought a spectacular home in Costa Rica! The place is up on a high place looking over the Pacific, infinity pool, etc. They have a Nicaraguan family caretaking the place until they're ready to bail.
Me, I just sit here in NJ like a frog in water that's coming to a boil.
