Disposing of ash?

Disposing of ash?

PostBy: MPeck On: Sat Nov 13, 2010 11:45 am

I live in Oneida County, how do other people in my area dispose of ash? I live in a rural area I can just pile it, but I can see I am going to end up with quit a pile. Any ideas? Thanks.

I used last years to fill in low spots in the yard. Some small towns may take for use on winter roads.

I also use it to fill in low spots in the yard. I live on the rim of a valley and all the ash goes down the hill. I figure in a few years the area will look like Iowa. :D Lisa

I'm in Cortland County--Spread it on your driveway if it's gravel--it hardens up in time--good to have a mud room--I also put a lot around the edges of the pond for sealer

I pay for garbage pickup and just bag it and put it out with the trash.

The way the county is jacking up prices at the land fill, I think I'm going to LOSE my ASH this year  our brilliant politicians don't realize that, now,it'll just get thrown on the side of the road or in the woods :(

Mine gets slung down the gravel driveway on a daily basis. I keep a little in a pile for delivery trucks that get stuck. Throw a little under the tires of a tractor trailer truck, and it comes un-stuck on it's own power. Makes for great traction.

I use it for traction in the horse pasture, just dump and let the mule spread.

Have to make sure the ashes are cool so not to get my ass burned.
Sorry about the wind noise.
