Getting Gretel Going...green Jotul507

The house Dave and I pulled all that free coal out of had a Jotul, the house was sold and I contacted the new owners about selling the stove. I guess they didn't like my offer for it, they had looked on eBay and probably figured they could get big bucks for it. The mistake they made was giving the 4 ton of coal away, they had free heat for 2 winters sitting right there in the cellar!

Nice work P.E. ! Don't ya just hate cutting a hole in the roof or wall of a perfectly good house ? Measure twice, cut once.

John, you shoulda offered the original owner a buc or 2 to haul the Jotul out of there. He would have taken it, I bet. Did you leave your contact info with the new owner? Ya never know in a year down the road, they just might give it away.

The seller's daughter wanted us to take the stove, but I hesitated, I figured since it was connected to the house it was part of the sale. I was correct. I'm thinking the new owner listed it on eBay, but I haven't looked. They have my #.

When I spotted the greenie 507 I was excited about it and started talking to John about the possibilities of acquiring ownership. ;) Two sisters were involved; one said sure just take it and the other said no-go as it's "attached" to the house and must go with the sale (contract in place). Too bad we didn't get to it before the house was contracted. :(

Looks very nice P.E.
Let us know what temp the top door & the hearth are running ... The Jotul 507's give off lots of heat down low and into the hearth. This is a great feature for warming up cold feet. ;)
Over the last three weeks we have used about 22-24 lbs. of nut a day in each of our three 507s.
Top door temp @ 425*F flue stack 165*F before the baro and 130*F after the baro.
The hearth temp is at 115* F one foot from the stove. The barometric damper is set @ -.05 WC.
You will really like that little stove. :D

If it wasn't so darn far away from me I would go get that stove. It would look nice in my stove collection. I have always wanted to run my two green 507's side by side, however, that would require the two to be hooked into the same chimney.

The snowman.

Does anyone know how many BTUs the Jotul 507 puts out?
