Nope N.Y.--most of my problems come from NYC trophy hunters--we have 2 Amish settlements in my back yard & we've all set our ground rules--Amish are like anyone else--there's buttheads & good ones :)

As long as the kill is clean & ethical, I don't see what's so wrong by using a crossbow. It's a thousand year old weapon that's done double duty - killing people in wars & putting food on the table..........

It may be my Native heritage, but I like to keep it as fair as possible--I also haven't rifle hunted in 10 yrs---up close & personal--to me the cross-bow's just not kosher--damn,a native speaking yiddish WTF

Didn't one of the Popes from the distant past ban crossbows as too brutal? I don't have anything against hunters except they always promise me venison and then I never get any lol. As to whether it was ethical to come up to a tame docile bear and kill it, I have a tendency to stick my face into other people's business so I'll just say I don't think it could have been much of a challenge.

I`m fairly sure that at least a time not too far back cross bows were not allowed in Pa. Been a long time since I went hunting bu I believe it was that way, guess I was kind of a purest, never even used a scope.

I believe that I read it took 9 shots to kill it. Nine shots is not a "clean" kill in my opinion.

Yeah, it doesn't sound like a clean kill to me either. Here in upper N.Y. it is quite a feat to take a bear in the woods. It s illegal to bait them. There are dumb dump bears which the "great white hunters take", and there are the bears that head to another country when they smell anything out of place. That record bear was like one of our dumb dump bears. I used to hunt with a bow once upon a time and stopped for many reasons. One of which was all the deer I saw running around wounded. I wounded one. It's actually easy. :( I butcher my own animals for consumption. Mostly chickens, pigs. After a while you realize that it just isn't right to not give the animal a quick death. They are only animals and deserve such treatment. It makes them taste a ton better. Animals that are full of adrenaline are bitter tasting. I hunt now with a ultra accurate rifle and don't take stupid shots. There is a pride and honor that comes when everyone looks at the deer I've shot and see how fast it was killed. To shoot an animal with a crossbow 9 times is a f*****g crime and it's a slap in the face to all hunters to say that this guy is setting some kind of record. Just my two cents.

Thats 100% correct. Scot if it was 1 arrow or bolt, 1 kill I would have respected the situation more but it wasnt and in the end
Bozo in a tree... :( :x
