looking for coal for Buffallo/Naiagara Falls region

We are going to try to burn coal this year and we are looking to buy some coal for the Buffalo/Niagara Falls region. Where can we buy coal that can be delivered to our area and what are the top three coals we can use. Thanks for your help.

Hi khan and welcome to the Coal Forum. I am sure more people will chime in on this thread.
Are you going to burn Anthracite or Bituminous coal??
If you are going the Anthracite route... Try looking up a dealer that has Blaschak anthracite "NUT" size coal. They ship coal all over the North East.

We found a local place that sells it for 1 ton of anthracite, chestnut size for $420, is this a fair price??? And how long do you think 1 ton will burn for?

$420. a ton seems like a high price to me.... Is this price for bagged coal or loose coal?
If you buy a pallet of 40 lb bagged coal the weight=2,400 lbs.
A pallet of 50 lb bagged coal the weight =2,500 lbs.
One ton of loose coal= 2,000 lbs.
The price for one ton of Nut size in mid coast Maine is $315.

If you can't find anyone up that way, you could come down southern WNY, we have a bunch of dealers down here. Only an hour and half drive.

Did you check the local Yellow pages, under heating, suppliers, etc. ?.Just do a google search on COAL DEALERS BUFFALO, NY

WOW! seems pretty high, I think around here probably $200-250/ton. I paid $240 for rice, oiled, delivered, but only about 8 miles from my supplier.

1 Ton, might last you a couple months, depending on how hot you run your stove and your house heating requirements. I normally go thru 4-6 ton in this big old victorian running 2 stoves.

I hear that Geer has reasonable prices. They are in Alexander, NY

What size (s) of anthracite does the blacksmith shop sell? bulk or bagged? I live only a few miles from there.

We get our coal in bulk delivered for 240.00/ton from Zahno Marine Sales in Ransomville. Great dealer and supplier. Give him a call !
