Well, I got the old rubbers off without any difficulty. But those alum wheels are a pain-in-the-butt to get new rubber on. Nothing like steel rims with the deep cavity to push the tire's bead into while rolling the rest of the bead in place. As I was struggling with the first new tire, trying to get the bead to pop on, my neighbor stopped by to ask a question. He sees what I was doing, so he then asked "Why are you mounting the tires that way? Just bring them over to my barn. I have a touchless mounter and high-speed balancer".
:eek2:
:D

Wooo! Wooo! I get 'em done the easy way tomorrow!

Good deal! 8-)

I bought a tire machine & balancer back in '05 after paying a shop $20 PER WHEEL  to mount tires I bought online for my ATV .,, and thinking about the time I brought my '72 El Camino to Town Fair Tire for new tires/rims, & the guy of questionable legal status brought it out, laughing while he rammed the steering to it's stops, at the squealing belts. I told him I didn't think it was funny ... and he continued to laugh. Took a lot of restraint on my part from knocking his teeth out!! But anyway, that's what drove me to make the plunge. Now if I need tires, I go on Tire Rack.com, buy my tires, they get dropped at my doorstep, & I mount & balance them at my leisure. ;)

Yep, thats where these new rubbers came from, TireRack. Amazing, they were HALF the cost Sears was selling them for, and no tax or S&H.
I checked the prices of a Touchless Mounter and Balancer. Pretty costly if you just use them for yourself, but you can always change tires for your neighbors

Chris you're lucky! Smitty you should have asked that guy if he wanted to be deported lol. PS what's a touchless mounter? Sounds obscene.
