Wouldn't put it past 'em. MA has been doing just that for 40 years on the Mass Pike. The Pike was supposed to be paid off by the early 70's. Then good ol' teddy and his liberal brotherhood decided they couldn't live without that graveytrain of cash flow, so here we are in 2010, still payin' for the Pike. What a rackett ...
This admin has alot in common with MA's gov't, so I would expect nothing less from them.

In yesterdays newspaper was an article about how the highway dept is not getting enough money to do the job...and they're not.... higher mileage cars, less driving, and now hybrids & electrics. You'll whine like a dog with a sore leg if they start closing bridges if they're not safe to drive on. What do you suggest? One way or another they need to come up with a system to pay for maintaining the roads.

AZ managed to rebuild 40 miles of I-17 while I was living there ... not only that but completely tore down & rebuilt every single bridge along that 40 mile stretch. During the 1.5 years it took ( was projected to take 3 years ), they came by my apartment every month and hung an info tag on my doorknob keeping me informed of their progress, & what I should expect. Finished not only ahead of time, but UNDER budget. The 180° polar opposite of what MA does!
All this with no tolls!
It was run by those terrible, "party of no" Republicans too.

Not to worry Smitty that pike was most likely paid for years ago, Pa. had the first turnpike & many think we are still paying. Pike tolls still pay for wages up keep & improvements & the rest goes to the state, tolls in some states are just like a so called temp. tax, once there it never goes away. We still pay part of our gas tax for the Johnstown flood relief.
there's nothig more permanent than a temporary taxxx !!!!
I've been watching money being wasted redoing sidewalks, curbs, and traffic circles in Mystic. There was nothing wrong with the old granite curbs! They where disposed of and "new" granite curbs put in! NO WONDER THIS STATE IS BROKE! I do without to pay my bills. The state just doesn't care that all this borrowed money being wasted has to be payed back by someone! It is insane. The state from what I see does a lousy job of prioritizing and living within it's (our) means!!!!!!

You should have seen all the construction projects going on around MA about a month before the election. Now that they've cheated their way back into office, it's funny how there aren't any more new construction projects going on anymore .... hmmmmmm ...
MA is famous for fixing things that aren't broken ... and neglecting things that should've been fixed 30 years ago. I guess it depends on "who" lives near, or uses said road. In my hometown the very first traffic light was installed about 30 years ago ...... because one of the selectmen couldn't get out of his road! I recall that light blinking for the next 25 years until they were taken out. He must've moved, or lost the election!
