Wilson Coal - Out of Sparta, NJ...

PostBy: I'm On Fire On: Sat Dec 04, 2010 10:21 am

Has anyone used this coal? Know where it comes from?

My wife stopped by Anderson's Farm in Wantage on Rt. 23 the other day to look at Christmas Trees and Ornaments (man, they are over priced) and she noticed they had Wilson's Coal in 40lb. bags for $8. She brought a few home. I've been burning it since Thursday, seems to burn nice, don't get quite as much ash as I do with the Kimmels.

Yes. Didn't say anything about buying it. Just wanted to know about it. :) Like I said, my wife just happened to see it at the store and thought she'd do a "good deed" and bring some home.

I'm very happy with Kimmel and Bob over at American, I just wanted to know about Wilson.

The coal is from the Hazleton area. Very low ash and excellent BTU's. Bulk pickup is by appointment only so we can make sure someone is here to load the truck. We also have the same 40 lb bags and one ton bags available for all 5 sizes: stove, nut, pea, buck and rice. The 40 lb bags are less if you buy in one ton quantity. And yes, the bags are costly as we hand bag the loads. Just so you know, the mine has been steadily raising their cost $10/month this winter.

My last load of coal came from Wilson's, seems like real good coal, mostly white ash with the occasional red. Its very consistent in size, not like the last few loads that were Jeddo coal. I would recommend it.

I just called Wilson Coal ( 12 noon 3-14-2011). A very pleasant women said they do not sell bituminous coal. She had no idea who in NW NJ sells bit. coal. I told her that it was posted on this website that Wilson sold bit. coal. She was familiar with the site and was confident that some one on this forum would be able to suggest a place to buy bit. coal in NW or west New Jersey, NE or east PA. I live in northern Hunterdon county, NJ. Any help in locating a dealer would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Your not going to find any bit dealers in nw nj. Bit costs too much. The transport costs more than the coal. I can get bit by the bag but it's over 400.00 a ton. You could call Penn Keystone and see if they will let you come out to their yard and pickup some. Otherwise full TT loads.
