I'm on fire. Exactly like you, when I switched to anthracite after more than 20Yrs of wood burning, I almost eated the owner manual. Unfortunally for me it didn't works as I hoped. Larry is a master in the anthracite world but it wasn't the same with V.C.
Back to your question, I'm wondering why: a baro plus a MPD, supposing your Chubby has no internal damper?
Just a question to your question. I always have questions...

Yeah, there is no internal damper like my wood stove had a baffle. I'm using both the MPD and the barometric damper because manufacturer calls for both. It is listed in the Chubby owner manual to use both so thats why I have both.

Thanks Dave I through a couple of washers on it. It has always bugged me that I couldn't get her to go any lower. I'll readjust her once the stove gets back up to temperature.

Isn't your baro open all the time set at .02"? Mine only opens at .05" and usually only a little.
One would think it would but I've always had a very strong draft with a not so tall chimney. JBSparks saw it.

Thanks for raising the question on your baro, you helped me get an answer to my question. :D

He is the link to Larry's web site it has the manual listed on it. Ask what ever questions you may have, most of them can be answered here.
**Broken Link(s) Removed**I know there are some good pictures of the Chubby stove on here, maybe Doug, IoF, JBSparks and them could hook you up with a link to their threads ;)

Make sure you check your draft with a gauge after modifying it. YOU don't want to go TOO low, then you won';t have any draft on your stove and the CO could leak out in places around the stove you don't want it to.
I would think you would still want to keep it at .04 -.06, it should stay closed on low burns to keep a good draft on the stove itself. It shouldn't open at all when burning low, so it sucks all the gases from the stove and not thru baro...

I just left my baro alone like Doug said. Although, I did notice quite a difference on how the baro worked after I cleaned it. It seems to operate much smoother now that I cleaned the fly ash off.
