Funeral Protesters

PostBy: samhill On: Sat Dec 11, 2010 8:51 am

That so called church group is said to have plans to protest at the funeral of Elizabeth Edwards, what in the heck are these people trying to accomplish? As far as I know up until now they have only been to military funerals, which to me is insane since in part these heros & the ones before them gave their lives protecting the very rights we all share including the right to free speech (protest) but Edwards is a citizen. Sure a well known one mostly for the A-hole she married but these last years of her life she had a lot to endure & IMO did it with class.

I guess they are looking for attention…and getting it. Protesting a funeral is about as low as you can go no matter who is getting buried.

First my understanding is that they are all mostly related. Secondly many of them are lawyers and they want to incite the crowd so they can sue people.

They were supposed to be here to protest a soldiers funeral but never showed up, I don;t know if they did some research or what happened but it was probably a smart choice. I'm not so sure they would have left with all their body parts intact. Keep in mind you might have a VFW every 4 or 5 miles in this area and it's very patriotic area. There would have been violence if they were here. Hundreds of people showed up for this funeral when word got out they were coming.

Hundreds gather for funeral of fallen soldier

At least 500 people gathered this morning outside St. John the Evangelist Church on William Street in Pittston for the funeral Mass of Spc. Dale Kridlo

While the soldiers funeral protest is bad as is the Edwards situation, they are protesting Children's funerals in Oklahoma:

http://www.ktul.com/Global/story.asp?S=13520403

Protesters from a Kansas church who have gained attention through picketing at the funerals of fallen military servicemen are now turning their attention to protesting at the funerals of children to retaliate for their tires being slashed at a McAlester serviceman's funeral last week.

Members of Westboro Baptist Church in Topeka, Kansas will be in Burneyville in southern Oklahoma today. That's where a funeral is being held for eight-year-old Jalen Wolfe, who died in an accident at the Love County Fairgrounds last week.

My guess is this issue will resolve itself, someone is going to snap and turn them into swiss cheese.

There is a motorcycle "group" ;) from New York and prob elsewhere that handle the protester in a different way. They back the motorcycles unto the protesters and rev, rev, rev. I agree, someone will cut loose sooner or later.

I'm sure that the church group protesters themselves don't live forever and that they must bury there dead. I wonder if they allow protesters to protest at the church groups funerals

I think if people would start calling them by their correct name "CULT" maybe they'll go away. I think the motorcycle thing is a real good idea  where ever they show up

That would be a PERFECT job for my RD! I could premix that day & make it REAL smokey!

Far be it from me to advocate violence, but I wouldn't shed a tear, nor lose a wink of sleep, should the westboro baptist church get sniped one by one at a distance of around 500 yards. I kinda hope that happens.

This group of wackos recently protested a funeral somewhere out west. While they were doing their thing, some how all the tires on their minivans went flat. None of the garages in town would help them.

Just maybe that group of nuts are starting to wise up, I just came back from Jamestown , Pa. where they put a fellow serviceman to rest. Those people had threatened to be there so the Patriot Riders where there along with a couple hundred vets like myself. A beautiful send-off, a glass enclosed horse drawn hearse & a full military funeral with a turnout of around 12 to 15 hundred, not bad for a town of 600. My he rest in peace, God Bless.

The sad part of it is after thinking about it, Jamestown, Pa. sounds like a big place, could just be that after they found out how little coverage they would get it wasn`t worth it to them. That & the fact that theres a lot of swamp land around here where someone couldn`t be found even if some were trying real hard.

If they showed up to my brothers funeral...a US Special Forces soldier currently serving in Iraq, I think I would combat them with kindness. I would give them the exact thing they did NOT want, the exact thing I think a Christian would do...a real Christian that loves the Lord, his country and those that served...

I would approach them, walk through the Vietnam Veteran Riders and publicly forgive them for the wrong they were doing, just a Jesus would have forgiven them.

I would then thank the Freedom Riders for their help.

There is not much a cult protester could do if you simply forgave them! That would deflate them without violence they could later sue you for.
