Hello all and thank you in advance.

I have a bunch of different hard drives and have backed up a copy of my families cds and dvds on them. When I buy a cd or dvd I always try to make a copy on a hard drive in case the poor disc is stepped on or put in the dish washer or who knows what? :? My question is about comparing these hard drives against each other to see what I may have backed up more than once. I may have backed something up and on 1 or more other hard drives and the same cd or dvd may be backed up by the son or daughter not knowing I did it. Any hints on good programs to compare these drives?

Thanks again

Why don't you just burn copies of the discs???

I only do that if I somehow damage the store bought copy. I thought I could save space on the hard drives.

Try Winmerge, it more geared towards individual text file comparison but it will also compare file/folders.

I don't know how much it will help, I know there is specific tools for what you want to do but none that I have used.

I use winmerge for maintenance on this site but I'm not dealing with multiple sources and/or file names.
