I was once obsessed with creating a wireless mesh internet service....big dreams no money....

Some students at MIT worked on Mesh Networking and made it better the name of their project was RoofNet. The same students that did the research on it went on to start a little company called Meraki.

The part I found most interesting is how it could be enlarged with minimal effort.
