Hand Fed Coal Stove: DS Machines DS-1600 Hot Air Circulator

Post by I'm On Fire » Mon. Dec. 20, 2010 9:33 am

After a week of crunching numbers with Coalfire and Amos over at DS Machines I've decided to order a DS-1600 Hot Air Circulator (sp?).

I should be going up to pick it up on January 8th if the weather over DS holds out. Please no blizzards!!! I do have 4wd but it'd just be an easier time going to get my new heat machine without the snow.

Of course there will be pics when I get it. I can't wait to be super toasty warm.

Yes, it is the 130k BTU model. Amos over at DS said I'll be nice and happy with my 80* house. I can't wait till I get it.

I appreciate the help everyone has given me these past few weeks and thanks for listening to me bitch and moan about how cold my family and I have been. Thanks so much. I'll definitely keep everyone posted.

You have checked the outlet distance from floor...
to make sure it will go into your fireplace...
I have about 38" to the top of the outlet on the Basement #4...

Cape,

Yes, I did ask about the dimensions of the stove and it will fit. I unfortunately left the paperwork with all of my math on it at home so I can't reference the numbers for you.

The forums on Accuweather.com are saying weather models are showing a coastal storm on Dec. 25-26 timeframe and another around Jan 1st. The December one is looking like it's going to be to far out to sea at this point but as of last night the New Years storm still looks good. Still a long ways away and will probably change.

I got a DS circulator and love it, you will to. Get a extra ash pan I think there about $40. DS will heat your house with no fans or blowers.

I had heard that too. Hopefully it changes and it won't be snowing when I go. If the check I deposited clears by the end of this week I may end up taking a day off of work to go retrieve the new stove. It'd be nice to have it installed and running for New Years eve.

Paisan,

I'll do that. When I get there I'll ask for a second pan.
