Is the stove hot yet?
How bad is the smoke in the house?
Are you starting the stove with Cowboy charcoal?
Are you going to burn Nut or Pea Anthracite?
We need to know........
The stove clock is ticking.....

Yes, I used Cowboy Charcoal to light the fire. So much easier to do than with wood and paper. Plus, it keeps my glass clean.

Anyway...onto the pics.

Another Cowboy Charcoal fire without the flash.

I have no "Blue Lady" pics yet. I'm waiting for them to join the party. But as soon as they show up there will be pics.

Just for old times sake. This was taken 30 minutes before Crazy4Coal showed up to give her a new home. I'll definitely miss the Chubby but feel I'll be more happy with the DS. I think I could fit maybe two Chubby's inside of the 1600...maybe 1.5.

Currently, the stove is idling at 290º (just completed filling the hopper) house is 69º. I have the stove set at 3 on the T-Stat on the back of the stove.

I'm on Fire:

I think we are going to need more pics of the stove burning coal. Where is the video? How about some pics of a nicely established coal bed. Keep us up to speed on how it heats. Compare it to the chubby for heat distribution. I think there should be pics covering at least two to three days worth of burning. This is just me. What does the rest of the forum think?

The snowman.

Nice install...
If the house is almost 70* and the dial is at 3...
You should be able to keep the house toasty warm...
What is the outdoor temps now...

Snowman,

Sorry, no video. Coalfire suggested the same thing over the phone but the camcorder I have is old school; tape. No USB. I could have used my phone but its only 30 seconds or so.

As far as the pics of blue flames. I'm still waiting for them. I filled the hopper with wet coal so it knocked the fire out of it. Stove is idling at 250* right now, house however is still 69*. Outside temps as of this posting is 25*. I believe it was 30* at the end of my pic post. My MPD is wide open.

Temp is rising on the stove, but slowly. I'm starting to see red spots in the corners of the box but still no blue ladies as of this posting. Window is fogged up though because of the wet coal in the hopper.
