Yep the temps move slow because of the large coal mass...
With the factory chain setting and baro/MPD combo...
The dial equals temp in the 00's...
3 = 300* and 4 = 400*...
If the temps are dropping outside bump the dial to 4...
That will give her more air and close the MPD just a bit...
If you have to use the windowstats just a bit...
That is not a bad thing...
It will show the wife the stove has some 'legs' for when it gets cold and windy out...
That will keep both her and the kid warm and happy...
If mama is happy...
Daddy will be happy...
I run my DSM with the MPD full closed except fpr loading and shaking...

Temps outside are falling. I've still got it on 3 I'm waiting to see where it will officially settle before moving it again.
The stove has not been named yet and a new avatar is in the works as I type this. Although the one chosen is not a very good one. I'm hoping to get one with the blue ladies.

Yeah, that fire was from the Cowboy Coal.
They are about the same as they were this afternoon, about 69. I've got about 120 or so pounds in the stove right now, the hopper is filled. Its taking quite a while to get to temp. It doesn't feel cold in here though and the stove is throwing the heat out. It is 25* outside.
The temp on the stove is still slowly rising.

Everything looks good except the baro location is it agaist the wall being that close it will be hard for it to do its JobI'm On Fire wrote:
it needs to bring in the cooler room air maybe you can turn the tee to the left side so the baro will have more room to breath Or is it Just the Pics taken if not I would spin it to the left side
BTW I think the Alaska honey glow brown would of looked better in the fire place it would of match the stone work better
nicer decor

It's the pics. In reality it's 10" off the wall. Turning it to the left wouldn't do any good if it were against the wall. The piping is centered in the fireplace so, if it were rotated to the left side it'd still be 10" from the wall. It seems to be working fine though, stove is still pulling a .06" draft at 350*.

Noticed that too but wanted to wait before critiquing the install...
Honeymoon is over...
Adjusting the weight on the baro will be fun too...
Where is the permanently mounted manometer...
MPD looks fine...
I like the air inlet on the Basement #4 better because it is on the side...
But it looks better hidden on the circulator models...

So the stove is up to 350*...
Nice...
House above 70* yet...
How does 25* outside with the DSM compare with the Chubby...
I like the slow reaction time of the big stove...
What do you have the dial at now...
Wife happier now...

I know I forgot a picture of it but, the manometer is actually hanging from a screw on the mantle. It's not a permanent location for it. I'm going to move it to a different location with a nicer copper tubing run.
No, the house is not quite above 70* yet. Still messing with the stove settings, trying to find the "spot", I should have it before bed. Well, the DS seems to be able to handle 25* a lot easier than the Chubby. The stove is running at half the temp of the Chubby and the house is the same temp as running the Chubby at 600*.

Do you have the dial up to 4 yet...
That should get the stove to 400*...
The house should break 72*...

No, no, no... I got the DS to avoid that..... lol
The dial is at 3.5 right now, I'm waiting to see where the stove settles at then if the house isn't to temp before bed then I'll readjust it. Little steps, until its perfect. I don't want to set it high when it could go lower.
