New user. Just started up my stove last night.

Pretty excited here. I fired up my stove last night after completing some stovepipe work. Still getting the hang of how far to open the draft. So far so good though.

Yeehaa...Welcome to the coal forum and congrats on the new hook up. If you have a digital camera posting pics is pretty easy. Click on Upload Attachment, Choose file, find the photo in your computer files and "choose" it my clicking open then "add the file". You can add a comment or not...then submit. The first time is always the hardest.

Here is a pic as requested. I know I have to move my water heater and maybe scoot the washer over a bit. Stove is nice and toasty at 350 on the right side. :D And my heat pump is running at low speed at 26 F OD. Never did that before. :D

I will agree, my electric bill goes down a few bucks in the winter. I am pretty sure it is because the stove is close to the water heater and it doesn't have to come on as much.

Looks like your all set up for a hot water coil installation. Good deal!

Just steer clear of Thermobilt (Hilkoil) -- bad experience there, you could say. :lol:

Yeah, as long as theres nothing combustable on the Hot Water heater, just leave it where it is. Remove the pipe insulation that is right over the stove. This will pre-heat and post-heat the Domestic Hot water :idea: :idea:

We have been enjoying the stove so far. Last Sat. I sliced my ear pretty good on the pipe stub above my stove. That kinda hurt. But it stopped bleeding eventually. ;)

One question I have for you all is - my stove only burns for about 8 or 9 hours without me "Knifing" the grates. I was hoping for about 12 hrs. Stove temp drops to about 200 when this happens and I would like to get a little more even heat out of it. Maybe its the Jeddo coal (pea) I'm burning. Any suggestions?

I would switch to nut coal. Make sure the hopper throat is set for nut. Make sure you have a good seal between the doors and the front lip of the insert. Good luck. :D

Just a quick question here. My stove burned well (around 400) for the first two weeks. Now I am struggling to get it above 250. I'm not doing anything different that I know of. The only thing I can think of is the quality of the coal. Has this ever happened to anyone? I buy it in 100 lbs bags. I just started another bag. Maybe that's it, I don't know. It's a bad time to have problems around here. It's kinda cold out.
