"Bad Request" when posting

PostBy: Richard S. On: Sat Jan 08, 2011 5:55 pm

I have a report here of getting an error for "Bad Request" when posting after hitting the submit button.

Anyone else experience this?

I just started getting this message a couple weeks ago on my infrequent posts. I suspect it is due to K9 protection software that I installed to filter out the bad stuff from getting through to our pre-teen's eyes.

I hit the submit button after entering a reply and after a delay of about 60 seconds a bad request error comes up. I hit reload and the post has been made and I am back in the thread like nothing happened. I am using Firefox 13.0.1. It's only a minor inconvenience since the post makes it through OK and it only requires hitting the reload button to get back in action.

This was old issue On: Sat Jan 08, 2011 5:55 pm

A spammer replied to it and since Fred posted afterward it's come back up. I never get this error but if others are getting it then I want to know.

Is this constant? When you post it goes to posting.php which enters the data so you are getting that far. It then redirects to the post you just made on the topic page. This is common technique and shouldn't pose any issues with security software.

Do you have an issue with this link?

My bad, I took a quick look to see if anyone else was getting the error and saw the title of this thread. I saw the date on Fred' post but didn't notice how old the thread itself was.

It is constant whenever I try to post. I only noticed it since the K9 software has been installed. As I understand that software all my web traffic goes through their site to be filtered to the degree I set it up. It happens on the initial post and also if I edit the post i just made. The post itself (or edit) does get added to the thread, I just hit reload after getting the error and I am back browsing again.

I accessed this thread via the first link....I'll report back in a minute if the bad request happened......

Edit to Add: The bad request error happened with this initial reply. I accessed the thread to edit this reply via the second link and then going to "active" posts. I'll report back in a minute if the bad request error happened again.

Edit again: Same bad request error on the edit....

What I'm asking is if you get a bad request for either of these links:

Does this give you and error? It should redirect you to the homepage.
