Here is an interesting review of a 128GB SSD solid state hard drive.
The author calls it "My best computer upgrade, evah".

Bad review on Amazon .... someone had some bad luck with the laptop one there: http://www.amazon.com/Kingston-SSDNow-N ... ewpoints=1

Sounds like this would be a great upgrade to this pile I'm using now. I'm a bit sketchy after reading the review though ... and the price is a bit steep, at 50% of the cost of my current system.

I have a 6 year old Apple Imac G5 and the hard drive is slowly failing. We are trying to baby it until we have uploaded everything to idisk so we don't lose any pictures and documents.

I'm hoping to get a Macbook with a SSD this summer when the new version of Apples OS is released.

Solid State Disks, or DASD, have been around for more than 20 years. We used them on mainframe computers in the late 80s.
You can now buy a thumbdrive, or stickdrive, that plugs into your usb port, that now holds 256GB of data. Amazing....
