Hand Fed Coal Stove: Alaska Kast Console II Hearth

Post by cowentz » Tue. Jan. 11, 2011 8:25 pm

my dad and grandpa are both lifetime wood burners. after seeing my Mark II in action this year they are both looking into burning coal. My grandpa ordered a Baker Mini furnace today. My dad is interested in the baker Heat King. This brings up my question. My dad bought a new Quadrafire 4300 woodstove 2 - 3 years ago. It has a pedestal with ash pan and a blower. Paid about $3000 for it. What would this be worth now if he were to sell it to get a coal stove. It is in very good condition good paint, no cracked bricks, no problems at all.

Well it depends on what features the stove has. A base Quadra-Fire Millenium (4300) costs around $2k new.
