5 Day Burn
Hi all,
Took the family to Maine for 5 days. Before I left I had my paper and wood ready to re-light my Hitzer 82F when we returned...of course it would go out, right?...
We left on Friday morning (New Years). I shook the furnace down, loaded it up, and turned it down to 4 on the dial-a-heat air control, and turned off the blower motor. We got back early Wednesday morning and that puppy was still burning.
The house was a little cool, but a couple hours later we were back to normal. My heat tape never had to come on.
Just thought I'd share. I was happily surprised.

I think your trip to Maine scared your stove. It realized if it did not keep your house warm that you might drag it to Maine next time and it would have to work like never before. Being a bit on the lazy side, any good stove would do a little extra work today to avoid much more work in the future. If you had vacationed in Florida it would have gone out in 36 hours.

That is quite impressive. I can only hope my stove can do that come spring time.

24 hour shakes and 48 hour refills...
Not a problem in the spring...
But I do it every 24...
So I can keep track of things...

I've done 48 hours with my 82 ul. Left friday at 4pm and got back sunday at 4 pm. I had mine at 7 I believe. I don't remember if the furnace came on etc. I had left to do camping over the weekend with the guys and turned it down just so I wouldn't have to restart. I believe the F.A. has higher firebrick than the U.L. I kinda wish I had the F.A. with the rear exhaust, and extra depth firebrick.
