-4 outside! I got up around 1:30 heard the furnace kick on and decided there was no way I was listening to that all night so I got up to see what I could do to stop it. It was -1 when I got up 73* on both ends of the house and 72* down stairs, I grabbed a box fan and placed it behind the stove blowing on a slight angle over the right side of the stove to get the air further into the house where the thermostat is on the opposite end of the house. After a few minutes the furnace stopped and I could see the temperature coming up.

Went to bed and got up at 7:00 and it was -4 outside 76* on both ends of the house and 71* downstairs! What a difference having a box fan behind the stove running on low! On the left side I have a duct fan right off the stove that sucks the hot air off the stove and pumps it into the downstairs of our house. Both the top floor and bottom floor are the same about 900sq ft. Life is good and very warm! :D

Good to hear Adam, glad you are warm. Same here the Harman just chugs along keeping the house at a constant 70*. Out side was reading 11* here.

We had 1*F at 6:00 AM. This was the coldest night of the winter so far. With the Sea water temp @ 40*F it really takes a deep cold front to get us below zero.

Thanks, it's nice knowing all that money we spent on insulation is paying off.

Looking at a -4* tonight too!

I am I old enough to start spending the winters in Florida?

It's never too late to find any excuse to get out of MA .... even if it's temporarily. ;)

New business venture for 'ya,Smits ! Starts out like a "PODS" commercial but shows you backing one of those 40' Seatainers into the Mass.Relief Victim's driveway...You throw a beer can out the window of the truck before exiting..(Looks real good in public) :o ...Then you go,gather up person or persons needing to get the hell out for a while and put them in said container. Once inside they'll find the interior tastefully decorated with real cedar or knotty pine panelling and the coal stove/boiler of their choice. A fully stocked bar/galley and a top of the line Brigada Bed in the back...They'll be loaded at dockside, and get a month bobbing like a cork out on the Ocean..........Perfect !....What could go wrong?.....I'll step away from the keyboard,now....

I woke up and I wasn't sure why? Figured since it is suppose to get down to -4 again tonight that I might as well go check the stove and see what all the temperature's are at. Sure enough as I'm walking up the stairs I see the red light is on the themostate meaning the water is circulating through the radiant tubing, the furnace just hadn't kicked on yet. I get to the stove and it's just about out I'm thinking what the heck? So I turn off the box fan tinker with the stove get the dancing blue ladies turn the box fan back on and thirty minutes later I'm going back to bed knowing my coal sixth sense is fully activated and fine tuned.

Temperature coming back up in the house and falling outside, the way life was meant to be. Tomorrow we have a whole high of 16 due with a low of -2 due tomorrow night! Man it seems even colder here since the Patriots lost. :(

I don't know, it seems to me ever since they lost my house has been a jovial and cozy 73 degrees. My heart is warmed also with the thought of thousands of Patriots fans not able to throw the word "dynasty" around again. -10 out 75 in

5° here ... can only manage 67° inside. Definitely won't be getting a 24 hour burn today! Stove is rippin'!
