1 3/4 ton of nut--got it for $230 last summer, it's up to $250 last time I checked. Yep, delivered is a per distance thing. Still saving LOTS of money. 30 lb per day some days less some days more--weird winter

That's amazingly low coal consumption. Do you heat exclusively with coal Fred?freetown fred wrote:1 3/4 ton of nut--got it for $230 last summer, it's up to $250 last time I checked. Yep, exlusively, real mild winter so far my friend & the old Hitzer knows just how to ration what I put in her.

I think the stove & the pointers I've gotten on the forum here deserve a lot more credit then me. The biggest I'll refer to as the Fastcat Washer fix.

heating a 3400 ft2 colonial I've burned 132 50# bags - 6600#. I've got 1.5 T on hand now and anticipate needing another ton to get through the season.

I'm averaging 48 lbs. per day overall. I will reach the 6,000 lbs. burned mark tomorrow, on Feb. 15th. The most I've burned in any single day so far is 80 lbs. The least I've burned over a one day period is 31 lbs. This is also my first year with coal.Lightning wrote:I've averaged 45 pounds per day overall.

I think that is the first time I've heard that one. It speaks loud and clear about the savings.saragnac wrote:Even if I had to buy a new stove every year, I would still save money.
I should hit 9000 lbs tomorrow. I hate to think what that number would be if the weather had been colder and I hadn't replaced those drafty windows.

I buy 7500 lbs a year. I always have left over even last year when it was colder. I have not even touched this years 7500 lbs. Still burning last years, and 2 years ago left overs. I am learning how to stack it better in the new "Coal Barn" built 2 years ago.Since January 14th I brought up another 28 bags, and still have 6 that I have not used. So since January 14th I have used 22 bags. If my math is right 36 lbs a day, in colder weather heating 1800 sq ft, plus 1 car garage almost every nite.

So far I've burned 75 lbs of coal to heat the exterior utility room while restoring my AA-260.
