Man, That sucks!
A buddy of mine once said "any truck is a good truck, until it breaks down"
He also said "If it is'nt one thing, it's two" He's right on both counts!
I'm a Ford guy myself. Have been since "87". I'm driving a "02" F350. Rides like a tank!
I hate to say it but Toyota makes one hell of a truck. And they're made in USA.
I'm on my third Ford truck now. My fourth may be a Toyota.
Nobody wants to build things to last any more. If it lasts... then you don't need to buy another one, right?

I wanted a Tundra for a long time...still may get an Offroad model...BUT I looked at the Dodge Ram 3/4 ton HD mega cab w/ a diesel.....WOW what a truck....the big problem today with GM (my brother is a Head GM Mechanic) a lot of the parts are made in Mexico! I had Break Rotors rust from the inside out (of which I cant help or stop) with 70,000 miles on the truck! Warranty left and GM who knows this is a problem STILL wouldnt do squat! ENOUGH IS ENOUGH!!! I like the ford size height and room...THE POWER-STROKE SUCKS!!! Cousin has one for a wk truck (gas co. on the rigs gave it to him) loaded and he said it is a dog! Who knows Wife wants a Audi Q7 and her SUV has 140,000 mi on it so she is up first I guess....by the time i want another paymnet I am sure something bigger and better will come out...THAT IS IF OBAMA DOESNT FORCE US ALL INTO YUGOS!!!

It seems that American pride is a thing of the past with all these companies.
There was a time when I always looked for the "Proudly Made in USA" on anything I bought.
I'm a carpenter, and stuck with Delta tools until they shipped all Milwaulkee's work to Taiwan.
Switched to Porter Cable tools because they said Proudly made in USA.
Then I saw in the small print on the last cordless drill I bought "Assembled in Mexico"
To top it off, all the jobs are going to China.....a communist country!
I've even gone to the Made in USA websites that sell products made right here. I can never find what I'm looking for. Always comes up" No match found"
Sorry for the rant. It just kills me to see these companies gettin' rich while American families are suffering.
Anyway, Goin' with a diesel? It cost more than gas, with that and oil changes...... It's gonna put a hurtin' on your wallet.

I use Amsoil so it wont change oil much...it is about 15 cents more a gallon for diesel...BUT I will sve on emissions s diesels are exempt in PA....plus what I lay out will ctch up when I have 200,000 + miles on the truck......

Nothing's exempt in Mass.

My truck broke down Friday night on my way home from work.
State boys made me tow it because I was on the highway. Went seven miles to a garage..... cost me $160.00 !!!
Come to find out , the mechanic had gone skiing for the weekend and the tow truck was gone.
Walked down to the station from the garage and took the train home.
Saturday I had to tow the truck again to another garage! Another $120.00
Needed a new alternator and battery.
I had a feeling it was the alternator and planned to change it out on Saturday morning, but I ended up stuck with no wheels.
I should of stayed home Friday, lost a days pay and changed it out. Would have been a lot cheaper.
Problem was, I had the keyes to the job so I had to get there to let the guys in.
Like I say..... It's only money, I'll make more.

Yeah I got lucky my neighbor has a garage and business there...I got the wheel bearings (both sides) $400 (GM wanted $500/side)...he charged me $100 to use his garage then I put new Strut A-Arm bushings in the front turned my rotars and put the best Bendix brakes they make on Sat morning...cost me $150 for that.....so for $650 I got that done and saved roughly.....750!!! Lovin life.....scared though....Wife wants an Audi Q7 not sure I can fix them HA HA!!!

I need to start looking for another set of wheels as a backup.
Maybe a little Ranger or something. Keep the 350 for haulin' coal and stuff.

If I were going to get a second P/U I would get a 4x4 Toyota Tacoma...6 cyl good on gass nice ride and a 4 dr option is available....

I think I was telling you about my buddys Toyota? Great in the snow, awesome for towing....... But
He slid into a snow bank last Thursday, caved in the bumper and rear quarter panel.
He pulled the bumper and the panel back out with his hands like it was tinfoil!!!
I did'nt say anything to him, but I was thinking... What a piece of junk! I guess that's how they get the better gas mileage.
I know the govt. forced manufacturers to change truck designs so that cars would'nt be destroyed in an accident.
So, I guess all the trucks are probably made like that now..... Too bad.

thats for sure...I bumped a half cut tree branch and dented my tailgate.....I think most vehicles are like that becaue in the govts infinite wisdom they keep screwing with MPG, so all manufacturers make cars out of more aluminum and plastic to meet the requirements...they need to update the internal combustion engine!
