Question RE : Height of AHS S130 Coal Gun to top of hopper

PostBy: lsayre On: Fri Jan 21, 2011 6:55 pm

What is the overall height (to the top of the hopper) of the newer square hopper style S130 Coal Gun? What is the same for the older round hopper models?

Do those of you who own the Coal Gun feed the hopper manually, or have you installed an auger system of some sort?

the round 400# hopper unit is 69.5" high, the newer rectangular hoppers are 63" high.... They are not interchangeable I was told.

Now that it's arrived, I can directly answer this question. It's 59 inches to the top of the hopper. Will have to sit upon some blocks to raise it a bit off the floor though, so add a few inches for that.

A quick "extreme" outer dimension measurement yields roughly: 50" long x 33" wide x 59" tall. That accounts for all dangling appendages. The boiler proper is much tidier than that. Weight for shipping purposes was listed as 875 lbs.

To Ben Witmer, Jeff Gingerich and Brian Wise of AHS could you explain why such an important height number is not listed on the AHS web site?

The height that's listed is the assembled height = 42". So what up? A customer could have a very unpleasant surprise!!

My buddy built a little stair case. Up a couple steps to load it. Easy.

AHS and AA also need to work on some serious marketing, until a year ago I never heard of a coal-gun. But I knew all about EFMs 20yrs ago. My inlaws house has two EFM 520 units in the basement (double house), and they run like swiss watches, never any issues.
