Regen is required on all new fire apparatus as well. There is something in the system that shuts it down if the truck is placed into pump gear so it will not interfere with pumping operations. It will go back into regen when taken out of pump gear though. I tell you, the first time it went into regen, it took everyone by surpise. Smokes like a chimney at the beginning. We thought something was wrong and took it to the shop just to find out this is normal. In the cold weather it a nice place to stand once the smoke settles down, it will warm everything within 10 ft very nicely.
