Black and yellow don't need to be connected. Red and green are called ring & tip, not sure which is which. If you reverse them an old rotary phone should still work but on a touch tone when dialing the dial tone does not silence after you start dialing. Just reverse them back.

The little plastic clip ended wire is call and RJ connector. Normal phone wire has 4 leads. An RJ-11 is just the 2 wires connected, an RJ-12 is all four where the black and yellow carry the ring and tip for another line. You'll see 2 line phones having 1 RJ-11 and 1 RJ-12. You can connect the 2 lines with 2 RJ-11 cables (an RJ-12 will take an RJ-11 cable) or just 1 RJ-12 cable with the 2 lines running in the 4 wires.

An exception is back in the old days, remember the rotary princess phones with the lighted dials? I've seen telco attaching a transformer inside the residence to the black & yellow leads to run a low voltage to power the lighted dial and I don't think it took any special wiring at the phone.

WE will have our chance come the next election. I don't see anything happening about proof of his birth certificate, if so, he'll be out of office till it comes out.

For a std one line configuration you only need the Red and White. White is ring, Red is tip. If you have a keyed-PBX system with multiple lines and phones, you still only need to use red white from the phone to the PBX. they Keyer takes care of all the other messy junk. If you have a simple two line phone and two line service then use the black and yellow. yellow being ring black being tip.

I just finisheda 166Hr live switch over at the states largest gold mine. Took out there OLD system and installed a brand new high tech fancy phone system. I wired 258 phones in one building, 60 in another, 98 in another and 122 in yet another.

The wife claims I fart dust!

An elderly couple went to church and the wife leans over to her husband and says "I just left a silent fart, what should I do ?" and her husband replies, " change the batteries in your hearing aid !"
