Magnum Stoker Gasket Locations

Magnum Stoker Gasket Locations

PostBy: heatwithcoal On: Wed Sep 19, 2007 9:39 pm

Can anyone with a Mag Stoker tell me if there is supposed to be gasketing in the following locations:

1.) Close-out panel(where tile goes)/bottom door interface
2.)The top and bottom of the glass and door interface. There is gasketing on the vertical sides of the glass/door interface. Could lack of gasketing on the top and bottom allow for some type of air wash for the glass?

Any info would be very much appreciated.

Thanks,

Mark

This will be my third season with my mag. love it.... No gasket on the top or bottom of glass. Was thinking of putting some type of gasket material around where the tile goes maybe some high temp silicone. Like I said my third season and lovin it.

The Glass has a flat tape style gasket that wraps around the edge of the glass. The door itself uses a round or rope style gasket.

There is no gasket between the cast iron frame and the panel in the lower door assembly.

I too was less than thrilled with the seal between the glass and the brass door frame so I used some high temp black RTV which worked very well.

You may have some trouble with removing the bolts that hold the frame to the door, mine were fairly well corroded. I replace them with SS and used neverseeze on the threads. A good penetrating oil like PB-Blaster helps loosten up the corrosion and can prevent twisting the head off a bolt.

Hope this helps
