Saw this add from a 1911 House and Garden magazine, think it's still available?

Imagine that. I bet every last aspect of that was American made; idea, design, mining of iron ore, manufacture. The paper it was printed on, the lumber on the house in the photo, the camera that took the picture, those were the days.

I've seen these years ago in Boston, but I'm not thinking they are still around......unless some thrifty old dude took it home and stuffed it in the corner....It is a treasure of times gone by.....when 'men were men and women were damned glad of it!'

Hope you are lucky with this hunt. You can get your own TV show!

That is soooo cool! I'll definitely be looking down the next time I'm in NYC. Thanks, Lisa

THere is still a few around this area, actually the coal doors on the sides of the foundations. We saw a few vintage coal bins in some houses we looked at a few years back...

The new ones lack the nifty little drop out and I suspect they're not nearly so well made: http://www.doitbest.com/Screen+and+stor ... 103514.dib
