I'am not talking about coal in your pocket's,,,, I live in a small town and eveynight I hear on the new's more and more crime, home invasions, muggings and everything else. It's starting to get real close to home ( All this BS going on ) and a few yrs. back I had a couple punks try to rob me in broad daylight, they even pulled a knife on me. Well it didnt work for them, and after that incedent I went to the local courthouse and got a permit. I hope I never have to use it. I would like to know how many other members are packing and if so is there a reason behind it or just the sign of the time's?

I've thought about it.
My wife thinks it's a good idea.
My only concern is that it seems that laws are made to protect criminals.
I can see how protecting myself or my family could end up with me in jail.
Especially in Massachusetts!
My brother carries all the time. He's lives in the city and works in the housing projects. Lots of scumbags!

I carry 90% of the time I'm at home.. I'm not an FFDO however, the FAA/TSA put too many ridiculous restrictions to make carrying while on the job [in the cockpit] practical.

A Michigan CPL is fairly easy to apply for and get.. the state has to prove a reason to NOT issue the permit..
Plus, the state likes the revenue from the permits.. :o

But, like anything with deadly consequenses.. carrying a firearm comes with some significant responsibilities..

One state police officer when at my home for a vandalism incident asked me if I had a CPL, I replied yes.. she asked if I was
carrying at the time, I replied NO.. she asked why.. I replied, 'cause I'm talking to a state police officer on my own property..
She didn't like my answer.. she told me, I'd like to see you carry all the time you are legally able to. Even when you walk to the
end of the driveway to get your mail.. you don't ever know where a potential deadly threat may come from.. a sobering thought huh?

 :(
Not in the Peoples Republic of Maryland. They want us unarmed and helpless. It is virtually impossible to get a carry permit in Md. You have to be in a cash business where you travel to the bank with large cash deposits OR be politically connected.
Get this! In MD, you are NEVER approved when you apply to buy a firearm. The two options on the form are...........
drum roll please..........

"Disapproved" or "Not disapproved." They can't even bring themselves to say you are approved.

Now unless you live on another planet you know the Baltimore area has one of the worst crime and murder rates in the country. The only reason that Detroit has a higher murder rate than Baltimore is we have much better trauma centers here and they save a large number of the shooting victims. When it comes to non-fatal shootings we ar right up there. And of course, the bad guys ALL carry. They don't care about the law. When they get busted, it's the first thing the DA plea bargins away. If you are a normal law abiding citizen who happens to get caught carrying, you are in deep $hit.

I have to go into the city several times a week for my business. There are some neighborhoods I try to avoid like the plauge but if I can't ..well better to be judged by 12 than carried by 6. ;)

When I lived in or go back in the Pittsburgh area I always carry, not too often at home, most places I go here the shortest way is thru Ohio which doesn`t recognise a Pa. permit. Summers I carry more often, winters we can sometimes drive for 5 mi. without seeing another car, all the locals are more than willing to help one another out, its the seasonal crowd we have to be careful of.

As of right now, there's no way. In Wisconsin, carrying a concealed weapon is a Class A Misdemeanor.

The ban on carrying concealed weapons in Wisconsin has held fast for about 134 years.

State law does not prohibit the open carrying of a firearm :)

Wisconsin and Illinois
are the only 2 States in the Union
that have no provision, what so ever, for Concealed Carry.

I carry most of the time when on my own 'personal' time... Can't carry at work crossing state lines into Jersey every night and its just not worth doing the Port Authority Lock Box BS... I first started to carry (obtained my concealed carry permit of course) while working as a heavy wrecker operator in and around the bad areas of Philadelphia... Worked mostly overnights and seemed to always end up in the wrong part of town (only whitey on the block with the big huge shiny brand new Peterbilt) chasing after Penske 24'-26' box trucks (very common gheto cruiser) abandoned or broken down or whatever else for whomever... Sometimes hooking and towing entire sleeper tractor and 53' trailer in combination and anyone that's ever done this knows that there is a fair amount of prep work that goes into getting hooked up before you're ready to roll... Gotta pull driveline (driveshaft or axleshafts) run air lines and lightcord to the tractor/trailer to maintain air ride and have trailer brake function from the driver seat of your wrecker........... This stuff takes more than enough time for the bruthas to steal your tools your belongings from the cab or you yourself for that matter....

I couldn't agree more with this statement!!!

If you pull it, you better use it... If you use it, you better shoot and KILL!!! If you only mame the person you shot at there is a very good chance you'll live with them the rest of your life, financially and otherwise... Plus, you may end up sitting in a jail cell to boot as heartofcoal mentioned...

I've always heard it was "impossible" to get one here in RI. But last year I got my permit to shoot trap at the state range. The range master told me he could "95% guarantee" he could get me my LTC. It was too close to the end of the season to do it so hopefully I'll get the chance to do it this year.

The range opens April 1 so besides getting away from all this snow, I have another reason to think spring. :)

RI is maybe a little different in getting licensed. You are only allowed to carry a weapon up to whatever caliber you qualified with so if you test with a .22, then that's all you can carry.

Also, you can apply either to the police chief in your town and if he turns you down, you can apply to the attorney generals office.

I never knew that alot of the other State's had so many restrictions on carrying, and some State's don't even permit it! I 'am glad we can carry here in PA. It's sad you have to even think about packing nowday's, but it's getting worse eveyday. That day they tried to rob me, I had $20.00 dollar's in my wallet and if I would have had a permit back then,,,, but they did pull a knife on me.

Yes I carry! Always have and always will!

I cant belive all the differences in permits and what you have to go threw to obtain them in different states. I also cant belive how stupid the people who devised these laws were when they wrote them. I think if any government was to deny you the right to carry they should have to garuntee your safety 100%

I agree with the "Better to be Judged By 12 than Carried by 6" and will carry no matter what the law dictates to me unless the state decides its feasable to assign me my own personal State trooper to protect me 100% of the time!

My brother says, In Mass if you carry, it has to be concealed.
I don't know how it is in other states.
I guess that makes sense though. If some punk saw it on your side, he or she might try to jump you from behind, and shoot you with your own gun!
