I have read some posts talking about inside of stove and pipes rusting during summer off season. Acids from coal If this is true, could putting some baking soda on fire last few loads coat metal, and help neutralize acids. I am new to coal, and want new stove and pipes to last. Thanks for the help in advance

I never heard of burning the baking soda. I know Leisure Line has cleaning instructions for end of season maintnenace where they recommend wiping the system down with baking soda mixture after a thorough cleaning of inside surfaces.

I wonder about getting into nooks and crannies wiping. Maybe i'll mix baking soda into garden sprayer and mist hard to reach areas.

After cleaning my Keystoker I use LPS3. You will see many post here discussing LPS3. I cannot say enough good things about it.

Do a search SPRING MAINTENANCE, gives a lot cleaning details. Usually after cleaning, coat with something, a lot of use the LPS3.

I've also been wondering this. I've looked at the LPS-3, my question is; when you go to fire your stove up in the fall for the first time do you need to worry about cleaning the LPS-3 off with a degreaser or do you just go ahead and fire the stove up and cook off the LPS-3?
I figure cleaning the DS-1600 is going to be slightly difficult due to the air tubes running through it. I'll more than likely do a baking soda water mixture then the LPS, and finally leave a tub or two of Damp Rid in the stove. Disconnecting the flue piping might be an issue too, the stove weighs 600 pounds and I'm not moving that by myself so I'll probably hang a tub of Damp Rid in the flue piping and cap the top of it for the summer.

If coated with LPS3 light it up in the fall, and enjoy the heat!
