Oh, yes, that wonderful black juice is ready. Ahhhhh. Good stuff. Come right in, join us for coffee & get your day started right. Home fries are cooking and there will be heart clogging bacon & sausage in just a while. Only the best for the Forum! Farm fresh eggs and home made bread. Top it off with Renate's raspberry jelly & we have a winner of a meal.

I hear rumors of 50, 60, even 70 degrees from some of our members? Sa-weet! It's window-stat season for the hand fed stove owners. Even the little stokers can only go so low. Stop looking at that matchbox!

It got into the low 40's here and that felt some nice. T-shirt weather! I did some maintenance to my trailer....fixed a wire, replaced a light, filled the tires and did it all with no jacket. It felt so good! Had to get the trailer ready as this morning is road trip time! Who wants to go? It's only half an hour away, but a trips a trip! I'm headed to Ellsworth to pick up a 2 year old Leisure Line Pocono. This poor guy, his knees gave out on him & he's moving so he's closer to the hospital that he likes. His legs won't let him carry coal any more. I tried to convince him to move smaller amounts, but he said just the added walking, moving coal, emptying ashes, was just too much for him. Maybe in a year or two after he gets two new knees....one bridge at a time I guess. But, for me, a good deal on a nearly new stove. I'll post pics later in the day. While in Ellsworth I will stop & see my sister. I hope she doesn't want to start burning coal, I could own this stove for less than an hour!

I made an ash pan this week for a forum member. If he sees fit to post details you'll see it at some point. I did discover that my box break will only bend up to 3" deep so to make a 3 1/2" one piece pan I had to do some inventive engineering. Good fun!

Enjoy the weekend!

OK, after that little taste the last two days, i'm officially ready for spring. 54' Thursday and 60' Friday. Picked up 2 new laptops for for the wife and myself last night. Hers was just about dead and my CD player quite a while back. Giving my old one that still works ok to our son so he will quit pestering us to use ours. He only gets to use it when were are right there to watch what he is doing.

The cold has returned along with some very strong wind. I'm ok here, but the power is out all over the place. It should be comin east so the rest of you can have it also. Well gotta go in for some OT. Have a great weekend.

Freddy, you gotta be the KING of Sat. AM breakfast selections. My compliments as usual my friend ;) It hit 63* here on the hill yesterday--snows been melting way too fast the past few days. My gentle, babbling little creek has turned into the raging B_TCH that she likes to become on occassion headed for the Tioughnioga River. This AM it is 25* I'd say the winds are at about 40 mph--white out conditions--snowing horizontal--about 6" so far--I filled some water jugs last night, but we still have power. The starts of a grand NYS kinda day. Have a good week-end all. I certainly needed that black juice this morning--again--thanx Freddy :)

Yesterday was very warm, but things really took a turn last night. At 11:25 pm we got a gust of wind that shook the entire house. It blew one of my basement windows right out of the frame, blew the chimney cap off, and blew my Adirondack chairs off the porch and tumbled them out in the lawn. The window shattered, the chimney cap is bent, and I am minus one chair. My wife had to help me cut and screw a piece of plywood to block that window opening...not fun with wind blowing rain and snow in your face. The EFM really had it's work cut out for it by the time we got everything patched up. I think half of the house was 50 degrees. Time for coffee and a damage assessment...

Good morning all,

Freddy that breakfast does sound good but if someone asks for seconds, they can have mine. I'm making good progress on bring my BP and cholesterol down; I don't want to mess that up now.

I think the 77* weather is gone for at least a couple of weeks. It'll be 50 something today and colder as the week goes on - snow on Tuesday. The fire made it through the hot spell and was ready to turn back up last evening. I'm still in the One Match Club - Whaooo! We have wind today, too, but nothing near what they had at Rob's house.

My Saturday filled up fast with petty errands that HAVE to BE DONE. Things like picking up the car from the mechanic because the starter died and was replaced or going to the grocery store and getting gas. It doesn't sound horrible but they all take time that I'd rather be spending some other way. Oh well, live goes on.

Have a great weekend and be safe, Lisa

Definately coffee time. Morning all, yeah, what a windy night. I prepped the generator, but that just garrenteed we wouldn't loose power. I haven't walked the property yet, but so far there doesn't appear to be any trees down, with what I can see from the house. Amazing...

Now that the snow has melted so much, I see some of my landscaping timbers have been plowed up into the snow piles. Nobody to blame for that except me.
The birds are hungrier than ever. Of coarse trying to keep up with them is impossible, we just put out suet-blocks when we can. Try to chase the crows and Blue-jays, but I guess they have to eat too. Trouble is, they want it all!
Looks like this weekend we got a signed contract to sell the house. Wow, 2 months to close! Too much paperwork and inspections in NJ to get it all done in 1 month.
I'm gonna miss this place.... :cry2:
But I won't miss the outrageous taxes.

Hey, that's great news! I'm glad to hear it - how long was the house on the market anyway. It seemed a long time to me so I know it felt like forever for you and the family. Do you have a new place yet in NC? Congratulations! Lisa

Windy is the word for today. It is blowing that nice warm air right out of here faster than it came in but all good things come to an end.
I’ll skip the high cholesterol breakfast and have oatmeal, the BP has been inching northward lately so I have to watch the good eats and maybe get stronger meds, we’ll see. I have 15 bean soup in the crock-pot for tonight’s dinner, can’t wait. Beans are one of my favorite foods, they are cheap and good for you, what more do you want.
Today’s agenda is to replace a wheel hub and bearing assembly on the Olds Bravada. It was found to have play in the bearings when we replaced the tires so I put it off long enough I had better do it today before it becomes a major problem. Most people probably know that the Bravada is the Rich Mans version of the Blazer and Jimmy that our friend SMITTY raves about. The difference is that the Bravada brings with it a few more problems of its own related to the all wheel drive system.

My favorite soup!!!!
My wife makes it with vension to soften it up. Yummy!

Lisa, we had to house on the market for 9 or 10 months now. I was hoping to get a job before we had to sell, but alass, that was not to be.... We have 3 or 4 places picked out in Louisburgh, NC. We'll make a bid after we close on this place. We decided Louisburg, cuz it has good schools, and is a 2 hour drive from all of our relatives, from the east, west, north and south. Even my aunt in Richmond VA just has a 2 hour ride down 95 to get to us.

Almost time for that TT load of Rice!

BTW...just what is a 'windowstat' anyway? I googled it, but found nothing...I'm sure its for letting air out/in by the windows...but I've never heard of this thing before....

We are moving too! I just signed a contract on a farm in Hustonville, Ky, So when we close we will need to get our house on the market. Looks like I will be getting a Hitzer insert for the new house, with no outside entrance to the basement I won't be putting my stoker down there. So I will utilize the big masonry fireplace. I may take the legs off my MK III and stick it in there for next year just to see how it heats the house and see if I can train the Wife to tend it when I am working.

Just got home from work, had my shot of whiskey, now for some hot coffee. Looking forward to getting out of town! HoooRay!

I just went to our pantry, and got the bag out. Its actually 16-Bean mix from GOYA. It comes in a plastic 1lb bag.
The recipe is on the back of the bag, but feel free to take libertys.

GREAT with fresh-baked bread and butter. :nana: :shh:

You have inspired me to pull out my bread maker and have fresh bread with dinner! My family will be shocked for sure. :) Thanks, Lisa
