Fred,

That actually came from my wife's uncle. :yes: He served in Korea.

According to what he told us he got shell shocked, so they assigned him to "guard" the ladies' of the evening's houses to protect the troops visiting there. And they used to "sell" GI clothing like bomber jackets. Than later someone else would confiscate them from the natives. And the cycle would continue.
Quite a racket they had going on.
