This year I started the heating season only with the Sunnyside first. Burning it for the past 15 days at low speed with anth.
My wife tells me that the downstair office has never been so confortable. In fact the 3 levels are.
Honestly we are 200% +++ satisfied with the recent 1874 Sunny. The only down point I got with it was from the grate jamming once in a while but with the last Summer modifs, the stove runs perfectly
Same here. I started the 116 on about the last half of October and it's been the only stove going, very nicely heating the whole house. The range is still got a vase and juicer on it, more like a table at the moment. We've had temps as low as 18F (-7c) at night, with 30's (1.6c) during days with no problems, 116 running at 475° or so in that scenerio. I think that when it gets down to 20's in day and lower at night, will be the time to spark up the range. My plans this year were for both stoves from Dec 15th-to March 1st. So 2 and 1/2 months of both and the 116 alone for about 6 1/2 months. Last year I used 5 and 1/2 tons but on this plan it will be more like 4 tons if the winter is similar to last.
Glad the Sunny is working out so well for you. Your house is well insulated and that makes a big difference in keeping the heat. It also looks really nice in the hearth. How long a burn time are you getting when it's in full winter cold say Jan?
