The below link gives you an idea where Obama stands on the coal and energy issue.

We can only hope this jackass doesn't get re-elected to another four year term and someone more sympathetic to coal gets elected.

Wow, thanks for posting that. I appreciate the fact that he included the footnotes. That makes it so much easier to check the facts. Have a great day, Lisa

Thank God for Republicans, we would be lost without them. Hegelian Dialectic? The dialectic process did not come about with Hegel. It started with Ancient Greek Philosophers, but hey, Hegel name dropping sounds fancy and articulate. Are you serious about having good citations for this article? His source for an argument against global warming is a collection of youtube videos? Really? Ever heard of peer-reviewed journal articles? Global warming is NOT a discussion in the scientific community. Only when political agendas get involved is it ever disputed. Find a peer-reviewed journal artical published in a scientific journal that poses findings against an increase of "greenhouse gases" not being the primary cause of "global warming" and I will concede. Please leave out any links to fun internet articles, however entertaining.

But seriously, why does it always seem more productive to talk about who's doing or not doing what, rather than simply, "This is how we fix our problem." I don't know, maybe name-calling and finger pointing isn't as ignorant as I think it is.

I disagree with the "thank god for republicans". they did not do much to help Americans during 8 Bush years, catered to big industry, and threw out many safe guards that were in place to protect the environment, we do still have to breathe the air that is haphazardly polluted. we need responsible leadership, give em a chance. note: current administration is the only one to encourage responsible energy use.

America is not allowed to be energy independent. If it was, there would have been an energy policy put in place many years ago. Why not build ten pipelines from Gull Island in Alaska to the mainland? Why not pump the Gulf dry? No, it's all about scarcity and the fear propaganda used to make us believe it. Coal is in abundance, abundance means choice, choice means freedom. Scarcity means no choice, no choice means government dictates what you can and can't have.

Isn't that what Jefferson envisioned?

Hi Freetown. Thanks for your longterm input. always very interesting. I currently am on my 2nd. coal burner this year. now its a penn stove, identical to a Chubby. first was a Jr, too small. only matters to us purests. I love the art of burning coal. the intense heat, glow, low cost. But, it is about heating my, or any one on a budget,s home. I am a mechanical contractor from central bucks county, Pa. designed my own air source heat pump, with a geothermal enhancement, drill my own bores. cost: under 5 thousand. it is cheaper to run than even coal. the coal is a back up and feel good. What I am saying is that while burning coal is a great hobby, addiction, it is for the few of us who appreciate it. Burning coal in a power plant is a totally different situation not applicable here. Politics aside, we should leave our opinions, biases and sometimes incorrect statements on the keyboard, and off of this really fun forum. ( unfortunately, I am very opinionated too) Homecomfort.
