Harman Magnum Stoker - Hot Water Coil Hookup for Hot Water?

Your choice, the inside of the stove is the same left side and right, correct?

Whatever makes routing the pipes easier.

Does not matter what side of the stove you come out, the right side worked best for me. I used a surface mounted aqua-stat. This is hooked up to a boiler circulator relay. The thermostat wires (low voltage) is hooked up to the aqua-stat. This will activate the circulator when coil comes up to temp. I think it's a 140 deg. aqua-stat. Hope this helps.

Hi guys,

Sorry, it's been so long. We now have a 1.5 week old son at home and things are a bit crazy.

Sooooo, here's the scoop.

I had a couple of leaks and I asked my neighbor (plumbing and heating guy) to give me a hand. He made some changes to the design. Instead of the coil being looped into the heating system, he loops it into the potable water system.

He rerouted the cold water line than goes into the hot water tank unto the Stoker and then into the hot water tank. Basically, preheat the water before it goes into the tank. Since I don't use a hot water coil in my boiler, he turned the low temp all the way down on the boiler. He left the high temp @ ~180F.

Now he said that the boiler will only turn on if I need more hot water and I don't have to worry about the boiler kicking on to maintain the boiler temp. He said the low temp is to keep the hot water coil warm so in a tankless system, there is always 120F water when you call for hot water.

I'm going to be stoking up the stove in the next couple of days. I'll let you know how I make out!

Hi guys,

I ripped out what my neighbor did and I put it back to our original design.

I woke up this morning to a full tank of HOT HOT HOT water :D

I just ordered the anti-scald valve this morning. So hopefully, I'll have that installed by the weekend!!!

I used copper female to attach to the SS water coil. It worked fine, BUt make sure there is pipe thread and that you put it on TIGHT!
