Anyone have a Total Knee Replacement?

Had a Total Knee Replacement done about 6 weeks ago. Now I'm starting to wonder if this was the right
time of year to have it done. Living in NE Pennsylvania, with the damp and cold winter were having, this implant
acts as a Weather Station built into my leg. I could tell what its like outside even before I get out of bed.
Some mornings its stiff and feels like pumped up soccer ball under the knee-cap, on nice mornings I could just
get up and walk without the cane.

My PT tells me atmospheric pressure plays a major part in the discomfort.

Just wondering if anybody else had similar experiences.

Yep, had both of mine done on Jan. 13th, it`s something you have to go thru, I talked to quite a few people that had them done & all said it will get better. My doctor told me that it normally takes a full year on average, some a little longer some not, he`s done over 5,000 so I guess he knows. Hey, I could feel the weather changes before the operation, at least now I keep getting a little better instead of a little worse. Not like theres anything else to do but just hang in there. I tend to push mine a little too much, just keep the ice packs handy & don`t be afraid to use them, the doc said my knees will tell me when I`ve done too much & so far he`s right.

Hey samhill, so I know its not just me feeling that way.
My Doc said the same thing, 12 to 15 months. He also knows his stuff, 15,000 knee surgeries, and he only
works with knees.
I know what 1 knee was like, can only imagine what you went through having both done.

The way I figured it was both were bad so get it over with at once & only one recovery, I`m 63 now I didn`t want to wait until 65 for the next one, besides that I have Ins. now who knows what lies ahead. Best of luck with yours.

My Dad also had both done at the same time. His were wearing out but a boat accident hastened the inevitable.

One word of advice for all knee replacement recipients, be careful of having exposed knees in the direct sunlight. They will get hot !!!!!!!!

Thanks Rick, I already figured that out in reverse, in the cold they will really get cold. Because I`m a big guy they put some type of extension tube down into both shin bones & I can just about tell where they end from the coldness. No more cutting the grass in shorts.
