I live a few miles from Jeddo Coal Co., and they were always know as " The Aristocrat of Anthracite".

about two months ago had two tons of Jeddo rice delivered by Swetty, it was beautiful, shiny, clean, low ash, coal. Just picked up six ton of rice from Rossi about an 8 or 9 ash, very clean, nicely sized, beautiful white ash. it is a fact that any coal from the Hazleton area region and especially Jeansville is some of the highest quality anthracite in the state. pure white ash can stack two ash tubs and carry them out at one time, just beautiful.

Jeddo's coal usually runs around a 8.5 % ash and does go down to 7.5% sometimes especially on the buck and rice. They supply major industrial users and have to meet pretty tight specs all the time. As far as reclaimed coal goes they dont run ANY bank material through the Prep Plant. You will find some wood in the coal but thats from old mine timber, there strippings are down into the old deep mines.

I was just in Hazleton today, talking with an old man. He says the coal is real good. He also said that their wash is broke so they have only been single washing instead of double washing for the last month or so. Whatever that means. It burned pretty good for me this winter. But that was only one ton. It did burn hot with not alot of ash. Not much ash compared to many.

I used the rice a few years ago. It was good coal and Robert Pagnotti was easy to deal with, but it tended to be undersized, and I wanted something bigger and more uniform for an EFM stoker spec'd for buck. The Jeddo rice burned nicely in the smaller stoker stoves I had previously.
