Baro question

Baro question

PostBy: NH Fire Dog On: Thu Mar 31, 2011 8:15 pm

I just recently had a LL Hearth installed. I was reading different forum posts regarding the baro and how it works...I noticed mine really never leaves the shut position. The dealer installed my stove with a pipe tee coming out the back with the stainless attached going straght up the chimney, and on the right side of the tee he mounted the Fields RC Baro. (it kind of duplicates my FHW Oil boiler.. Is this correct or should the baro be installed straight , in line without a tee? I'm questioning because for every bag of Coal I burn, or everyday, I have a full ashpan.. with lots of hard particles..Is this what you call fines? Unburned coal?? The stove seems to heat fine, and the CoalTrol works excellent in my opinion.......

Don't trust the baro no matter how it's installed. You need a manometer to see what the true draft is.

Stokers do not burn coal to fine ash. Typically it is like course oatmeal.

Config sounds ok, you need to put a hole on the pipe between the stove body and the baro, the manometer pipe goes there,in warm times like now the draft may go down a bit so I can understand why the chimney is not pulling a strong draft and hence the baro flap is not moving unless iy is windy out. He likley set it with the screw adjment.

I am typing on my dog, sorrrry fur the misratkes.
